The terms.
What BRASSS does, what it will not do, and what you agree to by using it.
What BRASSS is.
You give a birth date, a birth time and a birth place. BRASSS computes a chart from them and returns a reading: fields of work, things you could build, a role, and timing.
The chart arithmetic is real and checkable, and the sources page sets out every method and figure used. The reading written from it is an interpretation.
Using BRASSS means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use it.
What BRASSS is not.
It is not a prediction. A reading describes a frame for thinking about work, and no part of it is a statement about what will happen.
It is not financial, legal, medical, tax, employment or any other professional advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from someone qualified to give it. Decisions you make after reading it are yours.
It makes no claim, promise or suggestion about earnings, income or business results, and nothing in a reading should be treated as one.
Who can use it.
You must be at least sixteen, and old enough where you live to agree to these terms on your own behalf.
BRASSS is not built for children and is not directed at them. If you believe a child has given us an address, write to us and it will be removed.
Your birth details.
Your birth date, time and place are used in your browser to compute the chart. If you do not sign in, they are not transmitted to us and we never hold them.
If you do sign in and keep a standing chart, they are stored with it, because a chart that keeps up with the sky has to be recomputed on days you are not at your machine. They are readable only by your own account and they are deleted with the chart, from a control on the chart page.
The place name is sent to a geocoding service to be turned into coordinates and a time zone. Nothing identifying you goes with it.
What reaches us from a reading is the computed chart — positions, dignities, and the reason you picked before the reading ran. The privacy page sets out the rest.
What we do with what we hold.
We use it to run BRASSS, to make it better, and to tell you about it.
Making it better means reading how the product is used and where it falls short, and changing it. Telling you about it means we may send you messages about BRASSS at the address you gave us. Every message will have a way to stop them, and stopping them is honoured.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Aggregated information, and what that word has to mean.
We may license aggregated information about readings to third parties. Aggregated means figures drawn across many readings at once — how often a placement appears, which fields of work recur, how the two traditions agree and disagree.
No figure is published or licensed unless at least 500 readings sit behind it. A statistic drawn from a handful of people is not aggregated, whatever it is called.
No text from your reading is ever licensed, in whole or in part. Written prose can carry details that identify the person it was written for, and no rewriting of it can be relied on to remove them, so none of it leaves.
Your email address is never part of any aggregate, and is never attached to one.
We do not attempt to re-identify aggregated information, and we require by contract that anyone we license it to does not either.
Saved readings and their links.
If you ask us to keep a reading, we store it and give you a link. The link contains a long random identifier and is the only way to reach that reading.
Anyone holding the link can read it. Treat it the way you would treat a password: we cannot tell who is using it, and we cannot take it back once you have passed it on.
Saved readings are not joined to the list of addresses. Holding one does not tell us whose it is.
Ask us and a saved reading is deleted. Throwing away the link also works, because nothing else points at it.
Your reading is yours.
Keep it, print it, publish it, quote it, or act on none of it. We claim nothing over the reading you were given.
We keep the rest: the name BRASSS, the site, the writing on it, and the software that produces a reading.
What you agree not to do.
Do not run BRASSS automatically at scale, scrape it, or generate readings other than by using the site as it is meant to be used.
Do not resell readings, or present them as your own product or service.
Do not try to reach other people's saved readings, guess identifiers, or get at data you were not given.
Do not attempt to work out who any aggregated figure refers to.
Do not use BRASSS to make decisions about anyone else — hiring, lending, renting, admitting, insuring, or anything similar. It is not built for that, it is not valid for it, and in many places it would be unlawful.
It is free, and it may not always be.
BRASSS is free today. There is no charge, no card, and no trial that turns into one.
It may not stay free. If it changes, the change will be on the site before you are asked for anything, and nothing you have already been given will be taken away or put behind a charge.
We may change, suspend or stop any part of it at any time, including the ability to save a reading.
No warranty.
BRASSS is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it will be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or that any reading is accurate, complete or suitable for anything you have in mind.
The chart arithmetic is tested against an independently computed reference, and the sources page says exactly how. That is a statement about the arithmetic. It is not a warranty about the reading written from it.
What we are responsible for.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue, data or opportunity, arising from BRASSS or from anything you do after reading one.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us, which today is nothing.
Some places do not allow these limits. Where that is so, they do not apply to you, and nothing here removes a right you hold that cannot be given up.
Changes to these terms.
We may change these terms. The date at the foot of this page is the date they last changed.
If a change matters — what we hold, who it goes to, or what you may do — we will say so on the site rather than quietly reissuing the page.
Ending it.
Stop using BRASSS whenever you like. Write to us and your address and any saved reading are deleted.
We may stop providing BRASSS to anyone who breaks these terms, particularly the part above about other people's readings.
Governing law.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which BRASSS is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
If any clause is found unenforceable, the rest stands.
Reaching us.
BRASSS is operated by BRASSS, a privately owned company.
Write to info@brasss.com for anything: deletion, a question about a reading, or a problem with these terms.
